How does the Barktec Rechargeable Citronella Spray Bark Collar with Refill work?
The Barktec Rechargeable Citronella Collar is a no-shock training solution that beeps and releases a light mist of citronella spray when it detects prolonged barking.
Citronella Collars are a proven method for safely training dogs. Although citronella spray is harmless to pets, dogs generally do not enjoy its smell. Your dog will learn to reduce barking by associating their bark with the activation of the spray collar.
The Barktec Rechargeable Citronella Collar is automatic and does not require human involvement to work. A sensor located on the back of the collar receiver sits lightly against your dog's throat. When the advanced microphone detects ongoing barking, a beep sounding tone occurs, and the collar releases a light mist of specially formulated citronella solution through compressed air at your dog's lower jaw. Most dogs will be instantly distracted from whatever they were barking at, training them to reduce their barking behaviour.
Who is the Barktec Rechargeable Citronella Spray Bark Collar with Refill suitable for?
We recommend using a Citronella Collar for dogs over six months old. The collar strap is adjustable and will fit most sizes and breeds of dogs.
Should I use positive reinforcement training along with the Citronella Collar?
Absolutely, yes! We consider bark collars as useful reinforcement tools and recommend combining their use with other positive reinforcement training.
How long before I should expect my dog to stop barking?
In some dogs, you will see a positive result straight away and may only use the collar for a short time. But it can take more time to see a difference in excessive barking in other dogs. Some dogs learn faster than others, so it is worth giving the device time to work.
Can other barking dogs set my dog's collar off?
The Barktec Citronella Collar has a sensor on the inside of the device, which lays against your dog's neck. For the device to be activated, the sensor has to detect vibrations from your dog's vocal cords for a set amount of time. Due to these in-built precautions, it is unlikely that other dogs barking will set off the collar.
Sensitivity Levels:
- Press the button once, the indicator lights up once and beeps once, indicating that the sensitivity is set to level 1
- Press the button twice, the indicator light lights up twice and beeps 2 times, indicating that the sensitivity is set to level 2
- Press the button 3 times, the indicator light is on 3 times and beep 3 times, indicating that the sensitivity is set to 3 files (the most sensitive level)

Getting the best out of your Barktec Rechargeable Citronella Collar
Excessive charging of the unit will shorten its battery life. Please only charge your receiver when the batteries are low. When the collar is not in use, please switch it off.
eDog Australia recommends that your dog only wear this collar when required for training purposes and for no more than 8 hours per day. We also recommend that initially, you are present when your dog wears the collar. This ensures that your dog is safe and comfortable and that you can reward the behaviour you want to see repeated.
